Stop screaming please!
June 08, 2011
In the complex where we live there is a park with some grass and a small playground. Usually the kids are pretty loud when they are playing, but you cannot hold that against them I guess. At that age it is a natural thing and I remember doing my share of screaming when I was at that age.
What bothers me though is that some parents won't take the trouble of going to the park and pick up their kids when it is time for them to come home. Instead they yell on top of their lungs from the doorstep, hoping it will be loud enough to attract attention.
And then the kids start screaming even louder in response and a shouting match has started to the dismay of those who like some degree of quietness.
I believe a situation like that shows a severe lack of class and common sense. It is often totally unnecessary; people can communicate in a normal tone of voice if they just would take a few seconds and physically approach each other.
I never watch game- and talent shows on television, simply because the audience (and sometimes the candidates as well) finds it necessary to scream practically nonstop. For the same reason I loathe movies like the Lethal Weapon series where 2 character constantly have to yell even when they a riding in the same car.
Signs of age? I don't think so; I had the same dislike when I was in my twenties. I usually don't respond either if someone tries to get my attention from a distance. If you want to talk to me you have to come close enough so we can have a conversation without disturbing the peace in the neighborhood.
